Hunting in the Northwoods

Pimushe Resort is located in the heart of the Chippewa National Forest. There are ample places to hunt with the many miles of logging trails — some that have been closed to motorized vehicles.

We take extensive notes on where there is deer, bear, grouse and associated habitat. Then, we sit down with our guests and show them on topo and forestry maps where those areas are. We pride ourselves on the excellent service we provide to our hunters.

Grouse Hunting

It’s not uncommon for our guests to have 10 plus flushes a day. The count has been increasing – with last year turing out to be a good year.

Hunting Season usually starts the 3rd week of September. The last week of September through later October is typically our best hunting time for grouse and woodcock. We pre-scout areas for our guests.

Deer Hunting

Deer hunting in the Minnesota north woods is a rewarding experience. Whether you are walking on an old fire road, or positioned in a strategic stand, there is always excitement surrounding the hunt for white tale deer.

Ed Fussy has lived and hunted in this area for decades and knows where to point you and your hunting party for success. Plan your deer hunting getaway today!

Duck Hunting

Pimushe Lake is 7 miles long and 1365 acres. There are many bays and several island and a lot of points; which makes Pimushe an ideal lake for waterfowl.
We usually have good numbers of local ducks. Depending on the weather, the northern flights can be excellent.

Pimushe Lake is located near several pond type lakes that are restricted to waterfowl hunting making Pimushe a traffic and feeding area for the ducks.
